Why has Iran’s IRGC remained silent after recent attacks?

May 20, 2018 - There are a variety of different analysis on why the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) has remained completely silent in the face of increasing against its forces and interests in Syria.
First of all, any recognition of Iranian bases being targeted in Syria, without the proper response in retaliation, would be considered as this entity’s military weakness. The current circumstances do not provide Tehran the flexibility it needs.
On the other hand, to this day the Iranian regime has yet to deny its positions being targeted in Syria. If Tehran denies accusations of launching rockets into the Golan Heights, it must provide explanations on a variety of reports raised about its bases being targeted in Syria.
The Iranian regime acknowledging these accounts would be tantamount to having a large number of military bases across Syria, and this would go against Tehran’s claims of having only advisors on Syrian soil supporting the Assad regime’s army.
In response to the attack on the T4 base in Syria, the Iranian regime merely said a number of its “military advisors” were killed in the attack and had their bodies returned to Iran for burial.
Another possibility mentioned in numerous Iranian regime’s conservative media outlets is that the IRGC is preparing a “proper response” to these attacks, to be carried out “at the right timing.” All the while, with each passing day and no proper response further indicates the IRGC’s complete inability to actually carry out such a retaliation.
This further shows the severity of the crisis the Iranian regime is facing and how it has no response to a growing regional isolation.
